New Business Development Manager

You will drive the growth of our decarbonization products and solutions through collaboration, business development and fostering long-term relationships with OEM partners. This role requires a deep understanding of advanced materials sales, asset utilization, complex qualification timeframe, and long-term contracts around the Hydrogen and Alternative Energy markets. Strong business development, broad business knowledge, strategic thinking, technical acumen, exceptional communication skills and a proven track record of driving partnerships that foster innovation and growth are required. This position is located on-site at our Lowell, MA facility.

Position Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the President, lead the planning and implementation of strategic business objectives.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscapes, and potential opportunities for business expansion.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and technological advancements to inform the company’s strategic approach.
  • Establish, understand, and strengthen connections between the customer’s business strategy and AvCarb’s product and development capabilities to optimize account sales potential.
  • Utilize comprehensive understanding of our decarbonization solutions, their features, benefits, and technical specifications to effectively communicate value propositions to OEM partners.
  • Effectively collaborate with engineering, operations, and finance teams to align sales strategies with overall customer objectives.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with senior executives, engineering, and procurement teams at OEM partners to ensure alignment, collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Participate in sales forecasting, sales goal setting and strategic planning.
  • Remain current with industry trends, market dynamics, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes in the market environment.
  • Ability to travel within North America, Europe and Asia as needed.

Requirements

  • Ideal Candidate has a bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or Material Science, MBA a plus.
  • 7+ years of experience supporting sales and relationship management of large, complex accounts, preferably within advanced materials industry with resins, fibers, and complex qualifications.
  • Experience within Aerospace, Energy, Defense or other technology-based market is desired.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to formulate strategic plans that align with market trends and customer needs, complex programs with long-lead time qualifications and sole source positions, highly differentiated products, and large asset driven programs is a must.
  • Understanding of new technology development processes and commercialization, ideally with novel electrochemical technologies (e.g., fuel cells, electrolyzers, batteries, microchips)
  • Strong drive, sense of urgency, self-motivation, and goal-orientation
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience in generating, qualifying, and closing new business opportunities.
  • Exceptional communications and negotiations skills, both verbal and written. Must project competence and confidence when interacting with senior executives of AvCarb customers and strategic partners.
  • Valid passport and willingness to travel as required.
